Elm Grove Park is famous for shady picnics under large shade trees.
Location: North 22nd and Irene St.
History
The property for Elm Grove Park was purchased in 1920 from the developer of Elm Grove addition. The two-block parcel is bisected diagonally by an irrigation flume that can still be easily detected because it rises across the park and features a paved bike and walking path on its top. The park is situated a block from the old Governor’s mansion (see photo below) at 1905 N. 21st Street. It served as the official residence of Idaho’s Governor for over four decades. The neighborhood to the north and east of the park is also unique.
