Sunset Park is used by Youth Soccer and North Boise Little League, many groups and organizations. It is a large park and is the center of the Sunset Neighborhood Association.

History

Sunset Park is a 10 acre neighborhood park located off 36th street in Northwest Boise. Sunset Park was an undeveloped site when it was purchased in 1971 from John Fery, Wanek Stein, Paul B. Larsen, Dan Johnson, and Neil Labrum. Now, the grassy park features mature shade trees, open play areas, a softball field, tennis courts, play equipment and picnic tables. The basketball court was overhauled in spring 2010.

Facilities: Picnicing, soccer fields, baseball, basketball, playground, restrooms, tennis courts, water and reservations for covered picnic area and off-street parking. Updated playground equipment was installed recently and the tennis courts are in great shape and ready to play.

Dog Off-Leash Area

Of the 10 acres, 4.3 acres are available for off-leash use during designated hours. The approved area is the open field on the west end of the park defined by the tennis courts and sidewalk to the west, the sidewalk on the south, and the property lines on the west and north end of the park. There are signs with maps identifying the approved area installed at the park for user reference.

Dogs are allowed off-leash in the designated area in the mornings only, from sunrise to 10:00 a.m. Dogs must be on a leash at all other times during the day.

Dogs and their owners should be sure to follow the City’s leash and pick-up ordinance going to and coming from the designated off-leash area, and follow the Dog Off-Leash Rules and Regulations while visiting the park.
